Never Dream Never
I never dreamed I would fall in love again.
And yet here I am, with your arms around me, your lips on my neck, and an endless chain of I love you's trailing in our wake.
I never dreamed I would fall in love with you.
And yet here I am, writing this poem about you, dreaming of you, missing you in my waking hours so much that my heart begins to ache.
I never dreamed you would fall in love with me.
And yet here you are, loving me through highs and lows, despite all of my flaws that you insist are not flaws, but merely quirks that you adore.
I never dreamed I would ever feel comfortable again.
And yet here I am, opening myself to you, letting you past the ancient walls standing around my heart that ache to crumble, watching you create art from the debris.
I never dreamed I would fall in love again.
And yet, I am so happy that I did. I am so happy to be yours, to have you as mine, and to take on this world with you by my side. I am so happy that each morning I get to wake up with you.
And I never dreamed you would fall in love with me.
And yet, there you are, with your ridiculous jokes, your absolute cheesiness, and your hand in mine as we adventure out in the world.
I never dreamed I would find a place to call home.
And yet, here I am , taking up residence within the arms of my best friend, feeling homesick for a place that once didn't exist and now exists so painfully close to me that it aches to not be there.
I never, not in a million years, dreamed I would fall in love again.
And yet, here is my heart. All yours.
