Never Enough

The class giggles

as she wiggles,

trying to think

while her sight shrinks.

She mumbles

and stumbles

but can’t seem to find

the answer in her mind.

She stutters I don’t know,

her face as pale as snow.

the teacher moves on,

the laughter is gone.

But she keeps cursing herself

and puts it on a shelf

next to her other thoughts

of when she wasn’t enough.
