Never Enough

I see now, what will be our undoing.

I can see the dishonesty in your eyes,

the arrogance in your face,

the sickness in your bones.

As I am never who you want.

How I act is just a fabrication of my own, flawed mind.

Developed through my desperation to fulfill your expectations-

to save me from the cold tendrils of loneliness

that slide through the crevices of my mind

when you aren't filling me with the false hope

that I have become ever-so-reliant on.

I have been trained to be transparent,

fake,

artificial, if you will.

A mere shell compared to what's residing in my chest, clawing at my ribs,

pleading to be released from this deceit.
