Never to Follow
Never to follow, so my eyes are weary
From staring into flickers of darkness and light
Never to reign, so my conscience is clear
From what my people are drawn to, no matter the fight
Always in vein of the vastest of knowledge
They try to escape while I stay to endure,
They conquer a world where my vision is broken
But with them, they’ll never be sure
Burning was my path, the smoke drifting high above
No eye blind to its desperation, the tension much too strong
What died inside of me one day was nothing of a good appreciation
A tempted soul, a tortured heart by black lines and hidden gray declarations
Never to follow, I know my place is outside all of these boxes
Empty they are but of the bringing of scars, overlooked by a youth so toxic
Star shining brightly above, I let it lead my way
Into the unknown, I shed a fear and hope to rid the world of pain
With past realization, I feel the world and sigh
Faith requires diligence, but here, there is only pride
Never to follow, so questions I carry
Through the storms that haunt and scavenge for blood
Never to sing, so I hold much inside
Burying what confessions I have of love
Too much to completely burry alive
Always to bring up my good nature, and in time
Change found a way
Many so taken by the tide
