Never Just a Teacher

Your name was teacher

But that wasn't all.

Never was a moment

I needed you

When you weren't ready to help

After hours

You were there.

Never was there a time

You went ahead

Knowing I was behind

Patiently you helped

Me up.

Never was a moment

When math was over

You didn't ask me about

My life

And how I was doing

At work

At home

You knew it was rough

Behind me smile.

Never was your support

Held back

When I was giving up

Pick-me-up's

And pep-talks

Until I was ready

To try again

On higher ground

Next to you.

Your name was teacher

But you

Never

Kept that as your only job

Because you are so much more

To me.
