Never Leave
Eleven years.
A soft fluffly mess,
a tangle of extra skin and too big ears.
Eleven years.
Soon to be twelve,
but most say nine.
The snores in the night,
Who needs ocean noises
by their bedside
fake and distant.
When you could have the perfect
immitation of a freight train.
A secrect keeper.
Loyal.
Loving.
Gentle.
Always happy and a pillow
when you can't find comfort.
My best friend.
A cliche I know but still,
He makes me happy.
When he's gone...
...When he's gone a piece of me will go as well.
A dog is man's best friend.
That's not some silly saying.
He really is my best friend.
I love him.
I'll go through heaven and hell
with him by my side and
need nothing more.
He's all I need.
