Never Let Go

I don’t have a fragile heart,

But I keep going for routine heart check ups

Just to be convinced that the walls of my left ventricle are still intact

And I keep going for constant chest X-rays

Not because I have any chest pain or shortness of breath

I basically check if I still have my lungs

Since you always suffocate me… But I still breathe fine…

I’m not trying to say that you break my heart

But you make me shed tears sometimes

And most of the time it’s because you excite me

You make me laugh

Especially when you ask if I’d kneel to propose

Or if I will say my vows loud for everyone to hear

I usually say no

Not because I don’t want to, but…

Because the only time I want to kneel is…

When I’ll be thanking God for giving me what’s best for me

Even though I asked for what’s good for me….

… Because once is not enough for my vows

I want to whisper my vows to you each morning

Just to give you the assurance that I don’t plan to forget

Just to be certain we’re Living Our Vows Everyday

You have a love that feels like lust and is unique

And I may have no ring for your finger

But I can give you things that will make you linger

Things like memories that will make you glow

As if you painted a ray of sunshine all over your face

Or even something valuable, like my loving heart

For I know you understand its value

Keep it, hold it close and firm…

Never let go.
