never mine
dear you,
the one that was once mine.
endless nights, passing time
phone calls distant, bodies far
grass on our backs as we gazed at the stars.
movie nights
holding hands
pancake flipping
playing in the sand
arm wrestles
tickle wars
long night drives
chasing cars.
the night it stormed, the sound of shots
you held me close, i never forgot.
another night, another day
just time passing before you ran away.
in the back of my truck, my first kiss.
warm bodies, everlasting bliss.
the exact place you told me it wasn't the same,
that you didn't feel the way you did the first day.
your feelings vanished in the air, you no longer care.
no love is present, was it ever there?
you blamed it on school, said your dad was mad.
why did you lie?
why didn't you just tell me you no longer wanted to be mine?
why did i lie, say i was fine?
tears revealing my bluff as i started to cry.
i looked at you, quiet.
how could you be so emotionless when my face couldn't hide it.
you left the car with no regrets, yet im stuck with memories i'll never forget.
three weeks later, still falling apart.
you've moved on, fresh new start.
worst of all, you needed no time
found someone new, she's the love of your life.
how did you forget? how did you let me go so fast?
how did you replace me? how did you just erase the past?
its like you knew from the start it wouldn't last.
it took me months of pain, endless time,
to finally realize you were never truly mine.
(never) yours truly,
S.G
