Never Shall I Forget

Never shall I forget that glowing summer afternoon,

The first playdate I had ever taken part of

Which made me understand the true bond behind friendship,

Seven times lucky and seven times charmed.

Never shall I forget our frilly tea dresses

Never shall I forget their warm giggles and laughs

Whose smiles shone brighter than ever

Beneath the blazing Texas sky.

Never shall I forget the butterfly clips in our hair

Which gripped on tight as we danced to Katy Perry.

Never shall I forget the glossy bubbles swiftly flying above our heads

Which popped as we savored Cheeto dust off of our chubby hands.

Never shall I forget our secrets shared with an invisible marker

Which was purchased at a book fair and made us feel cool

And turned my dreams into a youthful realm of color.

Never shall I forget these things,

Even if I am forced to live

As long as the sun rises and sets.
