Never Show
She comes home from school and is knocked down again. No one can see the pain that she's in. She learned how to hide it and avoid all the talking. She thinks no one cares but the truth's no one knows. No one can see the bruises that never show.
Her parents are drunk and yelling again. Her mother leaves and the tirade begins. It turns into shoves and then there's the punch. She's down but the hitting never ceases. And no one will ever see this. No one can help her because no one knows. She makes sure the bruises never show.
The news comes soon. Her mother is dead. A car accident they said. She was drunk driving and never saw it coming. Probably never felt the pain pouring from her stomach. The little girl knows now that there's nothing between her and her daddy. No one to say stop please. There's no one to help her. She's all alone. But still the bruises never show.
A very bad night when she tries to protest. But the little girl can finally rest. There's nothing between her and her mother now. Her heart slows and the bruises finally show.
