Never There

Because I love you

Because I care

Because I know you’ll always be there

I’ll leave today

I’ll stay tomorrow

I’ll try to wash away this sorrow

This is the truth

This is the end

This thing in my mind was always pretend

Why don’t you love me?

Why don’t you care?

Why won’t you realize, I’ll always be there?

In the years to come

In the years that’s passed

In the years so empty they never ceased to last

I’ve come to notice

I’ve come to term

I’ve come to realize I know only to yearn

Don’t start to love me

Don’t start to care

Don’t remember me and try to be there

Because I love you

Because I care

Because I know you’ll never be there

I wrote this poem after my sister died. Reading it now it kind of sounds more like a relationship type poem but it's not. My sister and I had shared

a bedroom for 12 years. She died when she was 14 and I was 12. She was basically my best friend and this poem is kind of the confusion and

how lost I was after she passed away.
