Never thought it would be this hard…
To my college application, I truly dread to see your face,
Because I hate to make myself sound like I own the place.
“Put this, put that, just make yourself known,”
because they only care about the higher-than-average zone.
With colleges, it’s all about the name, the fame, the glory;
but is it really that important to give you my own story?
I am a quiet introvert that is very loud when around my friends,
and I would like to know you a little more before I give you my odds and ends.
To my beloved sexuality, I now applaud and adore you.
You are now my favorite secret, beautiful and brand new.
But there are so many people to hide from, too many to count,
and people just like me I can only find a very small amount.
I don’t like to talk about this for too long
Because with my anxious mouth I can make anything go wrong
So I usually keep to myself and only speak when I’m asked.
As long as they expect it their faces won’t look so aghast.
To my high school, we’ve had a really good run
filled with so many stories that are all too fun.
I’m not ready to move on, at least not yet;
but I guess we gotta start now, so place your bet!
I’m off to start another race, warm with the love and support of my family.
But what I’m pondering is what I’ll do without them when I’m off.
“Sometimes these things never work out okay,” they all say
“and you’ll end up having little hiccups on the way.”
Now, to you:
We all may be struggling at some point in our lives,
And at times it may also seem like no one survives.
But my point is that we never suspect things will be as hard as they seem
Until we live through the moments and lose horribly against the opposing team.
I never thought it would be this hard,
I never saw it the way I see it now.
Today I see the world without a filter,
And I can already feel the sweat on my brow.
