To Never Touch

I want to keep you but I know that's not allowed

you and I have our own lives going on

but now your words are a part of my day

and letting that go doesn't seem like a decision I want to make

I notice when you create distance

that's when I want to crawl into your head the most

I want to know why you're so gaurded

I'm afraid I'll never know why, but I have no right to know

I'm just someone you talk to

I've never touched your face

why would I be granted permission to touch your soul
