New

That smell of new paper
sharp new pencils
everything in place
for a new beginning
straighten that folder
adjust new clothes
be the very first
to open the fresh pages
of the day, the term, the year.
This excitement for
more than the
past has offered,
and the fear of
missing

second
of
this.
