you expect me to be exceptional

but that’s not who i want to be

it may have been who i was

back when nobody liked me

i had the time to stress

the time to worry about this mess

but it’s not the most important thing

not to me anymore

and i need you to accept that

you should’ve seen it before

i was only doing perfect

cause i had nothing else to do

thought straight A’s would make me love myself

but damn that isn’t true

and now the second that i’m happy

it’s not the most important thing anymore

and i can’t handle any of this pressure

over who i was before

i’m a new person

i’ve changed cause now i’m okay

i have friends and love

and i’d rather spend my time with them everyday

i’ve still got ideas, a future with a good life

still got plans for my time

i know i can get there

my goals are changing

but i still care

it’s not like i'm ready to flunk or fail

or drop out but please

my brain isn’t for sale

i need some space to breathe

this is not the end of the world

that i am a different girl

i am looking for memories

less focused on my enemies

don’t need school to distract me from my pain

the sunshine is here, screw the rain

i'm not a perfect person

cause i don’t have the time to be

i used to be that person

but now i’m happy with being me
