New Age Cinderella

Once upon a time,

There was so fair a maiden,

Her name,

Cinderella.

Cinderella, pure and nice,

Forced to clean,

Forced to cook,

And everything in between,

Evil Stepmother,

Evil Stepsisters,

Through all this,

Cinderella, pure and nice,

Pulled through.

Independence? What is that?

Cinderella dreams of freedom,

To be her own,

When will this freedom come?

A ball!

Bright and grand,

Dancing! Singing! Freedom!

What to wear?

This was her chance,

Freedom!

Who needs a Prince?

Independence is grand!

Evil Stepmother,

Evil Stepsisters,

Lock Cinderella away,

Who would save her?

Herself of course!

Cinderella has intelligence!

She has cunning!

She will get out of this!

Who needs a Prince?

She’s Free!

Evil Stepmother,

Gone,

Evil Stepsister,

Gone,

No one here,

Quiet

In

The

House.

Cinderella

Picks up the phone,

Here is her chance.

Freedom!

Independence!

A taxi to take her away

Somewhere new,

Somewhere far,

Who needs a Prince for freedom?

Cinderella is gone.
