New Beginnings

Fri, 06/03/2016 - 18:05 -- lpbt

What do new beginnings mean,

If you haven’t started living yet?

We don’t know what it’s like,

To pay bills or do taxes.

We are a fraction of the percentage,

Yet we think we are the masses.

We haven’t been jobless,

With two kids and a mortgage.

And we haven't been at dead-end jobs,

That deem creative shortage.

But we’ve all gone through change,

We’ve all changed A LOT.

Whether we stayed in and studied,

OIr ran out to smoke pot.

We’ve all witnessed heartbreak,

Some felt it like knives.

In the back of their chest,

Almost ending their lives.

Some have neglected,

Some been rejected,

All of us fear,

Yet all of us are still here.

That’s the point I’d like to emphasize,

Before you turn a blind eye,

We’re all here without a prayer, a wish, nor a vision.

Because we all made sacrifices, wishes, and decisions.

We choose these paths,

We all have potential.

To act or to slack is left to our own.

Whether you like it or not,

Too bad,

You’re grown.

So this is the proving ground.

This is the spirit.

Don’t look back,

You’ll know when you’re near it.

We all make choices in life,

But one day those choices make you.

Choose to change,

Choose to be daring.

We’re adults now, let’s face it:

Everything is scary.
