New Beginnings
This is a reverse poem (it has a different meaning forward and backward):
Lava from the dry, cracked ground
Flowing up and into the sky onto the Rock
Twisting and turning into the center of the Great Tree
Scarlet turns to Crystal blue;
Scorching death is true Life
Lava turns to water,
Running past the Great Tree,
Down the Rock
Creating the Breath of Life
It exhales heavily onto the ground,
Spreading its breath across the ground
From the Breath of Life spring two beings
He known as Wolf is the ruler of the forests
She known as Bird is the ruler of the skies
A love that wants to blossom
Their nature stops them from their love
Unwilling to bear the pain she leaves herself to drift
Spiraling away from her lover.
She drops many feathers that morph into sky beasts,
While her tears water the dead ground below
She drops many feathers that morph into sky beasts,
While her tears water the dead ground below
Crying from her betrayal
His eye is gouged from his face
He throws it into the night sky
So he can watch
His lover flies towards the mountains
Away from him and into her lonely solitary life
If you listen closely
You can hear him howling in pain
The full moon shines on them
The sky beasts are made of his lover’s tears
He will never move from his vigilant watch,
His shed fur become beasts of all kinds
They move freely and live on his ground
Humans rise from the shed fur and begin to settle
His jealousy of them grows
He and his kin attack humans
Trying in vain to ease his pain
He hopes they feel his suffering
From ashes sprout new beginnings
