New Beginnings

I often wish for the past
when things were simpler,
when I believed in people,
when I was so ignorant of the truths that people have realized long ago
they've learned how to manipulate
they've learned how to gain
and somehow,
it's not even wrong
in the eyes of the world.

I live in a world shattered by my mind
it's hard to believe in myself in the daily grind
to push myself to go farther,
to go faster,
but I'm always left behind
and all I see is others
pushing slow
yet at the last moment
flying toward the finish line
as if all my efforts were in vain,
worthless.

I kept hoping.
hoping,
hoping~
hoping...
hopin-

But hoping is useless.
So I pick myself up and dust myself off.
And I will become stronger.
Maybe I wasn't worthy this time around.
If I work harder, with vigor
If I change my identity
If I become someone I want to be
If I pull myself out of my unmotivated stupor
I'll will the race.

So here's to new beginnings, as
all my previous efforts have been destroyed
but I'll work harder.
Clad in iron, with
unbreakable skin
and although my hopes have been shattered
I'll change and rebuild my crumbled dreams.
