New Day
The sun shines through the window, lighting up her face and I see that she’s been crying, it breaks my heart to see her this way to see her in pain, to see her still suffering after all we did to get here, and I know that it takes time for wounds to heal but, I fear that she wont live to see the day where she doesn’t wake up in cold sweats screaming in fear, its fills me with pain to see the one I love subjected to this torture that even though we traveled as far away from where it started, that it still holds this much power over her, that she still cant look me in the eyes and tell me with a strait face that she feels safe, even after all we’ve done to escape him, it still hasn’t loosened his grip on her, and I don’t think I’ll ever understand the torment that he put her through but I do know that I will be there by her side, lie I promised her I would, that I wouldn’t let no one lay a finger on her again, but it pains me to see her like this, to see her suffer like this, and it hurts to know that there is nothing I can do to help her heal the wounds but hold her hand and give her a shoulder to lean on, to know that all I can do is just be by her side cheering her on from the sidelines, because only she can wrap the wounds, only she can let them heal, all I can do is just show her how, but I still can’t stop thinking of how I should have noticed it all sooner and that maybe if I had just paid attention to her that this would have never happened and that she would be able to go to bed without the fear of what awaits her in her dreams that maybe if I had listened closer I could save her from this fate, that maybe if I had done something differently that she would be able to sleep peacefully without having to curl up in a ball to weep, to let out a those muffle screams because of the fears she feels every time she closes those beautiful eyes, and see’s the face of the man who the cause behind all her fears, the man I’ve come to hold with loathing hatred for causing the torture that the one I love feels, the one who makes her suffer, the one who makes her cry, the one who stalks her throughout the day waiting for night to come, so it can strike while she tries to slumber peacefully through the night, why does she have to go through all of this, after all we’ve done to escape it seems that just maybe no matter how far we run that she, that we won’t be able to escape him, and it pains me every time I wake up and see her weeping while she sleeps, it tears me apart to know that the one I love is not even safe in her dreams, it hurts me to know that there is nothing I can do to save her, that all I can do is cheer her on from the side lines because this is a battle she must fight on her own so all I can do is try to comfort her until the day comes when she will confront her demons once again and that hopefully that time we wont have to run, that hopefully she will have won, and her torture will finally be done, a fear that has long gone, into the abyss of repressed memories and that we can move on, and live so ever happily, but I can’t help but feel guilty that I didn’t see it sooner, that if I had ben faster she wouldn’t have to suffer this fate of constant fear of what sleep will bring what horrible memory her subconscious will pull out of the deep, to terrorize her in her sleep, but I can’t wait for the day she can win the battle we fought ever so hard for, and that we can move on, and wake up to a new day a new life free from all the terror and strife of our past life, that we’ll wake up to a new day free from our tragic lives and live happily in the morning sunrise and smile as we share our morning coffee and live the dream life that we had put together for each other, but first we have to win this fight for our lives.
