New-Day Travelers

slowly, swiftly two new innocents  delicately trudged through thick moss and brush

in silent solemn hush they perspire and prepare to be eaten

like the Paschal lamb to His slaughter

their breadcrumbs thoughtfully, thoroughly left behind them

the eldest, Gretel, was bothered by both his waste and his laughter

he wheezed and gasped as the two flipped and frollicked

their faces flushed as cleared path gave way to a house of candied master

a fat, piggish, woman emerged from her slumber to greet the new day travelers

she ate them and their crumbs
