New Definition of Love
Dear Michael,
You showed me what love really is,
The unconditional kind of thing that bubbles up in your stomach
That creeps up into your lips
That laces the corners of my skull.
You showed me the sun that fills your mind,
The wind that rests in your stomach,
And the avalanche that settles in your chest.
I wanted to thank you,
For the waterfalls of smiles,
For the echoing of laughter,
For the gentle kisses and soft hands.
I told you I had been broken.
I had showed you all of my bruises.
And you still kissed me softly,
And ran your hands through my hair.
I want to thank you for this new definition of love,
A definition only you could have helped me find.
You will have my heart through the end of time,
Because I know that with you,
It will always be mine.
