New Friends

Curiosity, intrigue, and fascination

Filled every inch of my nine-year old body.

Conversations with Brandon consisted of our favorite hobbies.

He loved Yemen, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, and JetBlue;

I preferred topics such as drawing, playing on the playground, and Winnie the Pooh.

Our personalities contrasted in many ways,

But my autistic friend, Brandon, never failed to brighten my days.

His peculiar behavior and sharp wit caught my attention,

But I also admired the way he never stuck with social conventions.

Brandon taught me to be accepting of others;

Now I am more perceptive to the friendships I could discover.
