New Me

Maybe it's time I grew.

Not in height,
Not into something new,
But into someone who can take the pressure.
Someone who knows the big picture
And recieves all of the known pleasure.
I can't tell what I'm going to need,
But I can see a position of occupation
Where I am expected to lead.
Lord knows I'm here for the benefit of all,
But everything that's given isn't for me.
I try to do what I can
I keep a smile on and stand tall.
My mind claims another name.
One is surefooted and the other
Slips on the past of which we came.
Time brings less excuse
When in the trap of my mind,
I haven't gotten my head loose.
