Anxiety rips at my insides

How did I get here? Where do I go?

The moments are all a blur

Unsmiling faces

Are they looking at me? Should I really have come?

I cannot go through with it

A phone call was the first sign

What do I say? How do I say it?

Breathing hard but hardly moving

Cold sweat settles on my skin

Am I sick? Or just panicking?

My hands twitch to the music in my head

Everything is loud

Will they expect me to talk? Should I just leave?

I jump at the slightest movement

Kind voices filter through my ears

Who are they? What's their story?

My foot stops tapping its nervous beats

The world around me comes back into focus

Do they feel the same way I do? Are they like me?

My hands unclench and my mind unclutters

The thoughts unwind themselves into a clearer image

How do they cope? What are their solutions?

Calm breaths push their way through

Soft music flows

Is this okay? Do I actually like it?

Tense muscles melt away

Eyes are on me but now it's a good thing

It's okay. I will be okay.

All fear has gone
