A New Reason for Writing Poetry

My New Reason for Writing Poems

I have discovered a new reason for my writing poetry.

It is no longer just my fascination with the sound of the rhythm and rhyme,

That has always captivated me,

Or to express my love, are to hint at my wisdom.

Now my new poems are forcing me to look more carefully

At what I should be doing to behave more effectively

To better manage my pain and overcome my physical weakness,

And help me to become and aging man who is aging graciously,

And to accept the reality that I will never be young again.
