New Religion

Reds, greens, yellows, blues
Dancing women, singing men
My own dress of lemon hues
It was the first date, you remember when?

The theatre was dark n' grunge
Your hands, the devious devils
Played with my hemline
But then the screen lit up

And your adventurous appendages stilled
For a song
But it didn't take long
For us to slip out as the flutes trilled

Slick cobblestones shining with rain
And the dusty back seat of your truck
Begged for exploring
Who were we to deny the gods of exploration?

We payed our homage
And worshiped the rituals of
our pleasure seeking gods
But wait.

Suddenly, I am an atheist
I don't want to be forced fully
Into this religion
I don't understand

My initiation to this strange cult
Would be marked with blood
And with the sacrifed of dignity
But, oh, the rewards sang so sweet

His fumbling fingers
Struggle with my lemon dress
Suddenly it's all too sour
His breath too hot

There you were
My whispering Satan
Luring me in and hoping
To add me to the ever long list

His touch begged me to join the cult
Give in to the passion and pain
But I don't want to worship this way
No.... no... please not tonight
