The New World

Your eyes pierce through the air like
An arrow forced to hit its target a mile away.
Penetrating walls of air gusts in a perfect circle
Not stopping for a thought.

Finally it lands on me.
My eyes flash your image
Blurring my vision
Disrupting my mind.

Struck,
I fall in place
Hitting the ground with a thud,
Crushing the life under me.

Death curls his fingers around my soul.
Stealing away life
When I was not ready to face him
Chipping me away piece by piece.

I gaze across the plain to my enemy,
The man I never knew and never will.
My first kill
And it’s killing me.
