New Year

As the champagne flows And the streets are crowded As the balloons float away And the confetti falls slowly As the people scream And they count it down As the ball drops And the time is nearer As the champagne slows And the streets begin to clear As the balloons fade from sight And the confetti slows to a stop As the people leave And the last drop falls As the people flee And the last balloon fades from view They are left, trampled and forgotten Bloodied and dead As the new year begins The old life is killed with brutal efficiency.
