The New Year

We were going to be together forever,

or at least I thought so.

You held my hand but you left it empty.

Now I must move on and go years without you,

you left me abandoned.

I can't cope with you not being here with me anymore,

hard to believe.

Promises? Yes, they can be broken since you're not here.

Dark skies, rainy days-just a reflection of my emotions.

I'm slowly gaining strength to overcome this pain,

I'm getting there, slowly but strongly.

This is The New Year, my new year,

starting new once again as a cocoon turning into a beautiful butterfly.

Embracing my flaws, gaining confidence.

Now it's my time to forget you and move on,

I won't have you in my sight anymore.

Our year together has ended, now there are

different paths to walk through.

I'm starting my new beginning, my new year.
