New Year, New Me

Every year, they say,

“New year, new me, yay!”

It’s not a joke, though,

You are pretty different, you know.

Growing, changing,

Maybe even rearranging…

365 days is a lot of time,

It’s also a hell of a climb.

College is full of both the good and the bad,

Awful roommates might make you sad.

New friends will be there for the highs and the lows,

And old friends will leave, but that’s the way it goes.

365 days later, and I still look the same,

I’m still five feet tall, and Rebecca’s still my name.

I still play softball, and I’m always tired.

After college, I just want to be hired.

But with those 365 days,

Just like my mom always says…

Through it all,

You can always give me a call.
