New Years

Long journeys end on New Year's Day

When we all begin again

Speeding down our own highway

Old friends collide to drink champagne

Dim lights shine on as friends get merry  

Drinking and reveling in new year’s cheer

Adding to life a skewed commentary

Counting down the end of a dreary year

Long have we traveled to start anew

Each day a mile that we have tread

How many days have we stumbled through

Still we try to move ahead
May these new days be warmer

May they pass by happier than the former
