A New York Nightmare
New York,
This is where them real dreams are made of,
Or maybe nightmares.
I don't even know Dexter and it’s like I'm stuck in his laboratory
And these people are like lab rats, they'll do anything for that cheese,
And it's like I'm trapped in a maze
And I can't seem to find my way out even though to get in there was all these ways,
And I'm amazed because every corner I turn I see the same thing,
It's like these people smoking weed, getting high, growing wings,
And they ain't even have a red bull, shi*
I ain't even wearing red and I'm seeing all this bull shh.
These chicks on benches, pushing baby carriages and hitting bongs, its like, how the hell is your child supposed to succeed in society if you're just separating seeds from weed all the time,
And they don't even thing to separate their seed from the weed and they wonder why their children end up doing what they see,
Why, they won't even grow,
Why, they won't even go, nowhere
It's like success is the next article of clothing and it's getting no wear.
They'll rock true religions, and have false beliefs,
Wear, every different color Prada’s, still live in the projects and be on welfare,
They won't tell the truth because they'll choose to dare.
He'll sit back and watch that block,
Tick tock, tick tock, claim he's a G with his G-shock,
And he'll wear the right jeans so his hip is hugging the glock,
He fell in love with the hood so he's hugging the block
And he won't step on the crack, because he's scared it'll break his mother's back, but he will take the crack and ask her how to keep that pinky finger nail intact.
We need to clean up this act, where the F*** is the brooms,
I'm mad they made the elevator the newest bathroom,
And you can't call the police just because they want to COP a SQUAT,
They made the staircase the newest spoke spot,
So they can climb, and get high, and ask God if he's interested,
Smoke the CLIP to the tip and wonder why these buildings are ROACH infested,
Claim that because monthly money they've invested
RAID should not be expected
But we're all mortal where the F*** is the combat,
I swear to God if I was to start this game over I would not come back to where I started
Holes in my positivity I don't need that, are you retarted?
Networking got me so many connects, I don't need to build bridges,
I'm a pringle; I follow everyone in my ridges.
Pringles don't got' no ridges I follow no one,
Forget nuts, I bust lines so clean you could call it soap scum
Forget nuts, I bust lines so clean you could call it soap's cum
A dude dead serious came up to me and said, "ayo Tamz, how the hell you got so far?"
And I shook him, I said "Forget the B44, I took the be for these words straight from Brooklyn, before these words even knew that I took them..."
Something like word-rape
And I got 3 sides to me because they say the triangle is the strongest geometric shape,
Real, authentic and true, that means not fake
And the truth is, the hood can't protect me when my eyes are raining,
So I switched to poetry so I don't have to keep the pain in,
But I am poetry, and I did a little bit more then sprout,
Went from the hood to the woods and I branched the F*** out,
New York, this is where those real dreams are made of,
Or maybe nightmares,
Thank God I woke the F*** up.
