News

we listen to the news

we talk about the news

we believe the news

we make the news

the news may be nothing more than ink on a page

words in the air or a face on the screen

but it can cause anger and ignite passion

and for some people, cause them to scream

because between the misspelled words, smudged ink,

the quickly written scripts and the pretty faces

in the sensationalized stories and the forgotten truths

in the horrible crimes and unforgettable places

we find ourselves forgetting the facts of the case

putting our own agendas on the page

we make the news our own

an making no news but a plague

transforming facts to fiction

making more anger and lies

and in the mess we loose the real people who had suffered

who told the truth - making them small in size

put the victims in the ground

and the guilty up to the skies

Remember when we once knew

that freedom does not mean protecting the ideas of the masses

but defending the ideas of the few from all others in plain and secret view
