Next Time
Next Time
December 13, 2019
Under a pale moon
The snow falling all around
Spirits rustling the leaves
The demons smiling
Outside the school house
In a white suit
A rose in on hand
A 1957 revolver in the other
Dark Emerald eyes
Whose view has been clouded
By a longing for death
A longing for an escape
Upon his face, tears
Are nowhere to be found
Only bruises and scars
Of beatings and fights
He raises the revolver
Forcing it to touch his skull
His arms covered in day old cuts
He smiles just as the demons had
Sirens scream onto the property
Policemen scrambling out of their vehicles
As weeping parents panic
For the boy, only one thought enters
‘Next time they will listen
To the cries for help, pay
Attention to the signs
Only there won't be a next time for me’
His smile fades
His grip on the trigger tightens
Through the valley the gun echo’s
As color crimson stains the pearl snow
