Nichole

I could see your due wisdom

Transcending your physical age

As you spoke these words to me:

“You must learn to be with yourself

Before you can care for another.”

I wish I had known in that moment

That you were right all along

So I wouldn’t have had to endure

All of the trials, errors, and pain

That accompanies self-actualization.

But I now understand the reasons

Why you had tried so diligently

To keep my weakened, battered mind

From crumbling into the ashes of defeat.

It is because it is who you are.

A selfless, caring, and genuine

Human being who cares for the

Well-being of the ones you love

More than any of us rightfully deserve.
