Nicotine Addict

A curious concoction of morbid intrigue and defeat blends beneath the surface of me. Consequently, phantom fingers reach, and return with a dosage of death between. Befalling my lips, comes the chemical kiss. Though sweetly delivered, of poison it does reminisce. Its dragon’s breath seeps down my neck, and I heave at the irritant my lungs detect. Reality encompasses me so suddenly that I’m brought to my knees, and reminds me that I may no longer claim to be naïve. The realization sets in firm, thick as the smoke, which slithers in serpent-like coils harshly down my throat. Incapable to face and make peace with my stressors, I readily succumbed to the bandwagon’s pressure. My once-clean soul is damaged. I’ve harmed my temple, so, with remorse by my side, I pray safety from the nicotine devil. Let neither weakness nor addiction, again, lead me astray, and may my life, so precious a gift, not be smoked away.
