Nigeria my beloved: The threnody of hunger
Nigeria my beloved.
Beneath the crushing weight of a woeful economy, we sing.
Wracked by painful hunger spasms, we cry.
Wishing someone would hear and listen, we sing.
The threnody of hunger.
Nigeria my beloved.
In the midst of plenty, you yet are in need.
Though you fatten others, you yet are slim.
Though joyful songs abound, you can only sing.
The threnody of hunger.
Nigeria my beloved.
Sound the horns, beat the drums.
Call the strong, help the weak up.
Raise your voices, call out on the hills.
Give wine to the parched throat.
Give a stick to the feeble.
So that all may sing.
The threnody of hunger
