The night.

The night.

It was the night of Thanksgiving

She didn’t feel so well

Headaches, stomachache, dizziness

And we left

Driving home in the middle of the city

Fighting with traffic

Hoping to make it to CVS before nine

No such luck

We go home

She is almost passed out

A little unresponsive

Her stomach growing by the second

We don’t know what to do

Nothing works

Ambulance is on its way

But what about until then?

We get on the ambulance

Each speed bump, she cries

No one knows what to do

We get there

Grandparents, aunts, uncles arrive

Pacing and waiting till 5AM

Nothing

5:30 AM, she is stable

Off to NYU in hopes of better care

Surgery

Waiting for answers

Waiting for her

Years later, still not recovered

No work.

No money.

No answers.
