Night

When deep at night

I lie awake

and ponder random things.

Or stare into

the darkest hole

and wonder what life brings.

I think of all

I've done, and lost,

and birds, how still they sang

But life rolls on

some friends now gone,

my ears and how they rang.

And life rolls on

on comes sweet dawn,

so bright, enveloping.

The birds will sing

and all I'll need

is every memory.
