The Night Before

(poems go here) Before any other day I sleep through the night, In my bed I sleep warm and tight, I work day in and day out, Through all the pain and shouts, To be like those with crystal on their shelves, Lo' tonight is different, And in the morning I prove to be indifferent, On the eve of battle i do not sleep, I do not toss or turn, Wallow or weep, Because when that passion inside of me churns, At the turn of the tide, I smile at the sun, And on the drill floor i leave my pride.

I wrote this one night because i could not sleep before a JROTC drill competition. I decided to use this one becasue the day that i wrote this, i won 3rd place in a solo catagory at the state championships.
