Night

Like a thief in the night the knight took its rights;

Under the guise of infamy with tales of blasphemy

Round about the halls— as swiftly derailed by the bloodied walls,

As the imprudent student from its silly studies.

Then the skies left their post, and the people like dust

Floated into the eternities as though the weight of the world were lifted.

The knight’s light saw the light people float.

Encompassed about by the rights and lies it tried to sell.

The form of his art scorched into the ground;

The faces of the lost blazen across their tended fields.

The lack of their light let loose the sieve of its sound.

The weight of the world lifted, and the weight of their lives lost its substance.

So the people floated.

Like dandelions without fuzz,

Ants without a queen,

Bells without clappers,

Birds without feathers, and

Language without words.

The darkness of man encompass everything,

But the darkness of nature is little but nothing.

The sun shone on the people without their skies, but the light never reached them.
