To the Night

To the wise old owl awake in your tree I envy your being the will to be free To the full moon of blue hanging above I thank you for the caress it fits like a glove To the peaceful dreamers asleep in their beds I pity the vigilance locked up in your heads To the street lamps standing all in aline I relent you but this is your time to shine To the grand father clock sitting alone in the hall I beg you to turn back the time I don't want to fall And to the sun with your fiery breath of gold I endure the suffering until your presence folds For underneath the dark silent night My heart glows with ever lasting light
