On the Night of the Full Moon
My mind races, my limbs tremble.
The night is cool and crisp and I can feel the moon calling.
Like the ocean’s tides, she playfully pushes and pulls me deeper and stronger into the abyss.
The feeling of power is tempting and un-human, yet so warm and delicious.
From my chest I feel it growing.
It gnaws at my insides, ready to be released.
The hunger inside takes control and I lose myself.
Again I see the dark. Again I see the monster. The power is here.
I am strong and invincible, yet I am weak and scared.
Who am I? Pssh, no one cares.
On the night of the full moon, my blood boils and burns.
On the night of the full moon, my heart breaks and crumbles.
I can see but do not actually see.
I can hear but do not actually understand.
I can feel but I cannot love.
Many people say I’m the devil’s incarnate.
“Run!” they scream when they see me prowl.
The moon is my master.
The moon is my world.
The moon hears my cries.
But the moon is a harsh mistress.
Because of her, I’m forever trapped in this body, this monstrous being.
The full moon causes my body to transform.
Transform into what? Your worst nightmare.
I am not myself when I am myself.
The monster is me but not me.
How can I explain?
I’m torn in the middle. Good vs. Bad
The monster wants out, and I want acceptance.
We are one in the same.
On the night of the full moon my true self comes to light.
