Night Sinner

Demons dwell in dark corners,
wicked beasts of the night.
Making love to the darkness,
raping the mind.

While the sun plays aloof
for hours on end,
hiding from eyes
devoured by sin.

But inside morning mirrors
no likeness is found,
from eyes too ashamed,
and a heart too unwound.

Still the sun burns the sky,
time for cleansing by fire.
Wash your sins in the water,
off the lips of a liar.

Paint a smile on that face,
hide those secrets of shame.
Choke it down with a tie,
and try to remember your name.

For when the sun leaves you lonely,
and your mind is astray...
the demons are hunting
and your soul is their prey.
