Night Sweetness

I hate waking up in the morning, even when I can sleep in late as I want

I wake up realizing nothing is better, and, if anything, things have gotten worse

I stay up as long as I can to stave off the sad, lonely morning that always comes

Anything seems possible in the late hours, anything could change

And a new day of suffering is safely tucked away until the morning

Late at night I am safe and alone and noone can get to me

So falling asleep puts an end to the sweetness of the late night

Giving in to sleep means that I will wake up

And it will be morning

And i will have wasted the sweetness of the night
