The Night They Almost Lost Her/The Queen
The Night They Almost Lost Her\The Queen
Dear Darkness,
Tears are filling her eyes,
Creating a haze over her vision
Until headlights fill the windshield
She loses control
Of the car
Of her body
Of her thoughts
Her last thoughts are as follows:
What a nice song to end on,
What a nice text to end on,
How peculiar a headline in the local courier,
“Queen Dies in Car Accident Hours After Correnation”
It’s funny to her
How life is so good, then all of a sudden so bad
However, they were never truly good.
Her king did not love her back
The castle she inhabited stood silent, sometimes filled with screams
She knew deep down, in a few months she would have no meaning.
That night she thought she saw her final light
She recalled the last person she hugged,
The last person she told goodbye
The last “I love you”
It terrified her.
When reality came creeping back, she was dumbfounded.
In the midst of such a situation, she was so at peace.
Now, life resumed.
No more peace.
She was just a girl, in a crown, crying in her car on the side of the road.
She wasn’t dead, but perhaps she wanted to be
Immediately after the accident,
Life was different
She couldn’t explain it
life was just so loud
She looked at her mother,
Little did she know her daughter almost died.
She looked at her friends,
Little did they know she was so at peace.
She looked at herself,
Little did she know, she was no longer wanted here.
As the days went by, life resumed.
Still, no one knew.
The fear she faced, turned humourous
She laughed at death, with hidden hopes they’d meet again soon
Her laughter turned into tears soon after,
She realized how little she was,
Just another car on the side of the road,
As she walks her waking life
Her dreams take her back to her bliss
The headlights coming into her lane
The last lyrics
“You left everything that you love behind”
And she says goodbye
The sweet bliss envelopes her
Love, The queen
