night walker

they call me the night walker

(or at least, that's the title I've given myself)

when I'm walking home at 3 a.m.

bag full of miscellaneous items that don't make sense

yet are enamored to the specifics of the situation

the word 'home' can change

(its definition is malleable)

For me, home is currently a college dorm

a brightly lit, warm, cozy building

nestled among the bustle of the city

i strut the streets

i might as well be a part of the inky shadows

i observe everything

And, while these walks

(these observations)

might prove tiring for some

you might get a choice moment

maybe on a train

and a family with a lot of crust

(& a lot of heart)

might point out your Breakfast Club

shirt

and, for a split second

you're reminded

of how beautiful people can be
