Nightmare

You plague my nights

And haunt my days

You

This unbalanced, unnerved

Figment of my imagination

You bruise my body

Wrack my brain

Like an untreated tumor

Making its own heart beat

That thump that makes me

See stars as if I’m on mars

This daze of the altered world

The universe in which I feel afraid

Afraid of this unknown darkness

The darkness in this heart

Turned from a courageous teen

To a little girl once again

Scared

Alone

Cold

I shudder at the thought

Of…laying my head to rest

On my…fluffy pillow of feathers and lace

Hoping it will be heaven I am to embrace

Stop!

Breathe!

I’m sucked back into this darkness

Shaken until my bones rattle

It’s there you watch me

Eyes ablaze with angry fire

Burning to the touch

And yet I rather fall

Fall…into a bottomless pit

Than to face you piercing stare

I find myself unable to hide

From your ever so calculating gaze

Always finding me

As of scenting my fear

I try to banish you

Erase you from my mind

Yet you creep back in

Through the small cracks in my conscious

Stop!

Breathe!

I wake up in cold sweat

Heart racing

Eye dilated

As I remember that nasty glare

Of you

My mistake

My gruesome nightmare
