The Nightmare

Stuck in the dark

With naught but a sound

You know something’s there

But you can’t look around

I know someone’s watching

I know someone’s there

A chill runs down my spine

And up raises my neck hair

The silence is deafening

The dark all seeing

I know I’m not alone

Who is this mysterious being

I start running

To where I don’t know

But I have to get there fast

Before I lose all hope

I run, I run

I run until I drop

Then I get up just as quick

Realizing I can’t stop

It’s getting closer

Closer to me

It’s right in front of me

 Why can’t I see

I wake up in bed

In cold sweat I was drenched

I took a deep breath

Then under the covers I was wrenched
